Housing and Population Slogan search winners announced

THE VALLEY, Anguilla, July 21 —–The Anguilla Statistics Department has announced the results of its 2011 Housing and Population Census slogan search.

Anguilla by law is required to conduct a Population and Housing Census every ten years. The fifth census was conducted in May 2001 and the sixth census is due in May 2011.

The competition was part of one of the most important components of the census – education, communication and publicity.

The education, communication and publicity activities include components of the census such as user consultations, census education, publicity and promotion of census products, with one of the objectives being to ensure that each resident is fully aware of the upcoming Anguilla Population & Housing Census and its activities.

The slogan competition was launched on May 4th and closed on May 17th, 2010. It was opened to all students of primary school age.

Four winners were selected including two who will share third prize after receiving equal points for their slogan entries.

The winner is Merlica Smith Jolie – “Anguilla Population and Housing Census 2011 – It All Adds Up”. Her prize was sponsored by FirstCaribbean International Bank, Coral Reef Bookstore and the Government of Anguilla.

Second prize went to Pamela Seeyu – “Anguilla Population and Housing Census 2011 – Everyone Counts” sponsored by A-Affordable Insurance.

Third prize  Tyrique C. Lake – “Anguilla Population and Housing Census 2011 – Numbers Matter”, and Jaheim N. Hamilton – “Anguilla Population and Housing Census 2011 – The Number Matters”.

Both third place prizes were sponsored by the Anguilla Social Security Board.
