THE VALLEY, Anguilla, July 27 ————-Anguilla’s Minister of Infrastructure  Evan Gumbs has described as a ‘significant milestone’ the construction of the Anguilla Tennis Academy at Blowing Point.

Speaking at the closing of the 15th annual Summer Camp last Friday, Minister Gumbs said he was very proud of Mitch Lake and his colleagues.

Lake, who benefitted from a tennis scholarship in the United States during his teenage years, is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Anguilla Tennis Academy.

Deputizing for the Minister of Sports Edison Baird – Gumbs offered congratulations to all the coaches and officials at the Tennis Academy for successfully completing another summer camp.

Over 125 children were involved in the programme this year.

Minister Gumbs, himself a former sportsman, noted that sports is a great discipline and encouraged parents to support the tennis programme.

The government minister said Anguilla has the talent and stated that he was looking for many more tennis scholarships for the young people of Anguilla.

Minister Gumbs pledged continued government support for the Tennis Academy and appealed to the private sector to also support the programme.

The Minister ended by saying that he is hoping to see regional tennis tournaments being held at the Academy.
