THE VALLEY, Anguilla, July 27 ———Four of the five women calypsonians who entered the semi finals of the 2010 Anguilla Summer Festival competition have made it to the final scheduled for August 4.
Lady K’So, who was returning to calypso arena after a nine year break, was the the lone female competitor who failed to the make the cut.
The judges had to select eight calypsonians to come up against the reigning national calypso monarch King Repeater.
Advancing to the next round were De Adjudicator with her song (Ah Who), Calypso Ro ( Fidelity), Queen Bee (Embrace Your Culture) and Singing Vinnie, making a comeback after a six year hiatus with her tune (A Caribbean Unity).
They will be lining up alongside their male counterparts Springer (Crystal Ball), HotShot (Blackman Going to the Top), Gilli (Poodle Power) and Hit Man ( Poodle Train) at the Landsome Bowl Cultural Center in less than two weeks.
Also joining Lady K’So on the sidelines were Thunder, Jah Fire and Luss.
The calypsonians were judged on lyrics – 40 points, melody – 30 points, rendition – 20 points, and originality – 10 points.
