Five women in Calypso semis tonight

THE VALLEY, Anguilla, July 26 ——Eleven calypsonians will clash in the semi finals of the 2010 calypso monarch competition at the Landsome Bowl Cultural Centre tonight.

Five of the competitors are females. They are lady K-So, Singing Vinnie, Calypso Ro, Queen B and Adjudicator. Also in the line up are Jah Fire, Hit Man, Thunder, Gilli, Hot Shot and Springer.

Eight calypsonians will advance to the finals on August 4 seeking to dethrone the reigning Monarch King Repeater.

Anguilla’s 2010 annual Summer Festival officially opens here on Friday  with the Prince and Princess Show and the Junior Calypso Monarch competition.
