Anguilla’s international reggae artiste and musician, Bankie Banx, has announced the date for the staging of the premier reggae and world music festival in the Eastern Caribbean. ‘Moonsplash 2010′ will be held at the Dune Preserve on the island’s southwestern coast from March 25-28.
“Moonsplash is proud to welcome returning premier sponsors the Anguilla Tourist Board, Lime, Caribbean Liquors and Tobaccos, Cuisine Art Resort and Spa, Cap Juluca Hotel and Professional Development Services Group. We welcome Viceroy Anguilla and Sheriva as hotel sponsors,” Banx said in a press statement.
Moonsplash 2010 marks the 20th staging of the festival, billed as “The Eastern Caribbean’s Premier Reggae and World Music Festival.” Headlining artists for 2010 include a bountiful selection of reggae talent, ranging from cutting edge to founding legends. Specifically, Moon Splash 2010 will feature legends Gregory Isaacs, John Holt, Marcia Griffiths and Sugar Minott. Reggae crooner, bass virtuoso and Moonsplash Allstar Benjy Myaz will also be featured with Allstar artists Onaje Allan Gumbs pianist, lead guitarist and Inner Circle lead vocalist Junior Jazz, and Corey Stoot.
The next generation of conscious reggae will be represented by the indomitable Jah Cure.
Moonsplash 2010 continues the tradition of providing the North Eastern Caribbean with its first look at some of reggae’s rising conscious stars. Recent years have featured Tarrus Riley and Duane Stephenson.
Gregory Isaacs, best known for his international smash hit “Night Nurse” will be making his first visit to Moonsplash. Sugar Minott, who has more than 40 years of international performing pedigree, will also make his debut appearance in Anguilla, while Moon Splash favourites Marcia Griffiths and John Holt return to join the Moon Splash family reunion.
Moonsplash 2010 – The Reunion – will kickoff with a day of fun on the beach on Thursday March 25, and the official kickoff party will be held at The Dune Preserve beginning at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday night. Daytime activities continue on the beach on Friday with live bands and games. Friday night’s performance – Reggae Night – will be headlined by Jah Cure and Benjy Myaz. Friday night will also include a special presentation of the Moonsplash 20th anniversary awards.
Daytime activities continue on Saturday with more live bands, games, and even more prizes while the night’s electrifying performances – Legend’s Night – will feature Gregory Isaacs, John Holt, Marcia Griffiths, Sugar Minott.
The 20th anniversary Moonsplash package will wrap up with fun for the entire family on Sunday at the annual Grand Beach party.
